huqrugs creates custom flatweave rugs with all the understated elegance and unconventional quirks of modern Dutch design.

From sourcing the highest quality wool to creating unique colour combinations, every detail is meticulously fashioned with the keen eye of a master craftsman. Handwoven and finished in a playful contemporary palette, huq rugs are at home in any interior from bedroom to boardroom.

The new venture from designer Frans Verschuren blends 30 years of experience in textiles, fashion, interiors and theatre into a dramatic, functional style inspired by the natural world.

In 1997, Verschuren established Amsterdam design studio Amsterstampa, where a team of 20 freelance designers produce collections of exciting, contemporary fabric designs using a mix of traditional and digital techniques. Amsterstampa’s work for the likes of Moschino and Cavalli, Dedar and Designtex, produces instant modern classics.

huqrugs represents Verschuren’s evolution from visual design into full sourcing and production of his own innovative collection — a colourful, free-spirited expression of the Dutch design tradition.
